Dawn-Marie and Doug made us fall in love with Owls…. Their April nuptials was one of careful planning, attention to detail, and no leaf left un-turned. Dawn-Marie and Doug have been together for quite some time, and were looking to make it official with their close family friends. Even though they reside over an hour away, and with most of their family traveling quite a distance, they knew the Bee and Thistle was the right place to host such a special weekend.

With an Italian themed “Welcome Dinner” the Friday night before, complete with enough Manicotti and Profiteroles to feed a small army, the celebration began. With both Dawn-Marie and Doug being vegetarians, their menu was carefully selected to make them happy, but to also satisfy their guests. Their dinner was held on our ‘North Porch’, and as guests ate and imbibed, our strolling musicians crooned in to the evening. After dinner, guests were invited to enjoy a bonfire and S’mores that had been set up on our Boules Court.

With Dawn-Marie and Doug opting to have the ‘Bee’ as their private guest house for the weekend, their guests made themselves right at home. Saturday morning, a beautiful brunch was displayed as guests meandered down in their pajamas. However, there wasn’t much time to relax as it was time for the bridal party and groom’s men to get the show on the road…

The amazingly talented Jennie Fresa came on location to get Dawn-Marie and her bridal party’s faces all dolled up, while Amanda Ripley simultaneously secured their tresses in to gorgeous curls. Our Chef prepared tea sandwiches and freshly baked cookies for the ladies to enjoy as they were getting ready. The bridal party and grooms men were whisked away by limousine to the Church ceremony.

Dawn-Marie had a vision for her ceremony and reception to be Emerald Green, Muslin White and ‘Tiffany Blue’ themed. Linnea and her worked closely together to make this vision become a reality. Between decorating the church and preparing the table scapes, it came together beautifully. The “Tiffany Blue” place cards and ribbon accents popped among the burlap and lace table runners. Between the Owl cuff links, hand made cake toppers and statues, the Owls were tastefully and beautifully placed.

Chef Kris was up for the challenge of preparing a five course vegetarian feast.  The apple and gruyere soup was exceptional, but the main course of a Vegetable “Wellington” with Shishito Peppers and wild mushrooms floored our ‘foodie’ couple. After the chocolate ganache and mint cake was cut, it was on to the dance floor…Carla from Elements added her touch to the dance tent with perfectly placed ribbons and draping. Guests put on their dancing shoes as “Party Pro’ Deejays played all of their requests.

Every time we hear an Owl ‘Hoot’, we’ll think of you Dawn-Marie and Doug. Having you and your family spend the weekend at the ‘Bee’ was truly magical, and we wish you all the best.
